Why does my design look blurry when I download it?

If your design looks blurry after downloading, there are several steps you can take to solve the issue and perfectly download your design.

Fix any filters

Check if there is a filter or an effect applied to the image. You can do this by clicking on your image, then clicking "filter". Editing or removing these can make the image clearer.

Check your image resolution

If there is no filter applied, check if the image you have used is high-quality. If you have uploaded a low-quality (low resolution) graphic to Canva, it may look blurry once downloaded.

The way to solve this is to upload the graphic again in a higher resolution format.

Download your design in another format

You can also change the format you used to download your finished design in a higher resolution.

For a higher resolution image try exporting your design as a high quality PNG. Also try exporting your design as a PDF: For Print as this is the highest quality downloadable format that we offer.

Resize and enlarge your design proportionally

The following may be necessary if you need even greater detail or clarity when zooming in to a design.

If you have a Canva for Work subscription, you can easily enlarge your design proportionally. Simply use the Change dimensions... option. While we do not yet support the feature to change dimensions in units other than pixels, you may want to click here to help you with that.

If you have a Canva standard (free) subscription, you would need to create your design with custom dimensions. You could also do a 30-day free trial with Canva for Work!

Hi there,

Thanks for your message!

I'm sorry to hear that your design is blurry when downloaded. For better download quality, you may try the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Check and fix any filters you may have applied to your design.
  • Ensure the image quality of any uploaded images meet the quality needs of your design, if applicable.
  • Download your design as a PNG for designs intended for the web, or as a PDF: For Print for designs intended for print.
  • Create a design with custom dimensions larger than (and in proportion to) the current template you are using.
