How much do images cost in Canva?

When you are using Canva, you can upload your own images or you can purchase images from our premium stock photography library. These images cost $US1 each, and you will only ever pay when you publish your design.

Canva’s library of more than one million images has been sourced from some of the world’s best stock photographers, graphic designers and illustrators so that you can also create beautiful designs. These artists earn a royalty every time you use their image.

How can I tell if an image is free or paid?

Paid images are clearly labeled in the Canva library. To see if an image is free or costs $US1, roll your mouse over it in the Editor.

If you use a paid image in your design, you’ll notice that a watermark appears over the image. This is to protect the artist from having their artwork stolen. The watermark will be removed when you pay and publish your design.

Hi there,

Thanks for your message, I'd be glad to clarify that with you!

Images from our premium stock photography or premium stock image library cost $1 USD each and you'll be prompted for a payment when you publish your design. You can tell which photos and images are $1 USD as these have a white $1 USD box at the corner of the element when you search for it.

More information can be found in the following:

On the other hand, images, photos or elements that are free will have a white FREE box in the corner of the image when you search for them.

The following Help Centre article shows you how to search for free elements:
