How do I check if my Facebook Ad has less than 20% text?

One of Canva’s many different design types is "Facebook Ad", which you can use to create graphics perfectly sized for Facebook advertising.

However, Facebook also has a policy that all ads must have 20% or less text to participate in the program.

Here’s how to check to see if your ad measures up:

Open your finished Facebook Ad design

Click on the search tab, and type in "20% text" on the search bar. The results will contain some grid elements you can use to check how much text your design contains.

Click or drag one of the grid elements

Load it onto your design. Resize the grid by clicking and dragging the resize anchors until the grid covers the entirety of your design. Then, simply count the number of squares which contain text. If five or fewer squares in the grid contain text, Facebook should accept your ad.

If your ad has too much text, delete the grid and edit or resize your text elements, then repeat the process until you have less than 20%.

Hi there,

Facebook has a policy that all ads must have 20% or less text to participate in the program. To check to see if your ad measures up:

  1. Open your Facebook Ad design and click on the Search tab, and type in "20% text" into the search bar.
  2. Choose one of the grid elements that appear to load it into your design.
  3. Resize the grid using the resize anchors until the grid covers the entirety of your design.
  4. Count the number of squares which contain text. If five or fewer squares in the grid contain text, Facebook should accept your ad.
